Older versions of messenger sometimes work better than the new versions and some just like the way the old version works so here a list of the Older Versions of Messenger that work.
Uninstall Current Version
- Close Yahoo! Messenger down.
- Click on the Windows Start button
 and select Control Panel.
- Click on uninstall a program.
- Find Yahoo Messenger and Click on it.
- Click Uninstall/change.
- Click Finish

Stop Yahoo! from auto updating
- Click the Windows Start button and type in run (or select run if using win XP).
- Type in C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger and press OK (if your running 64bit windows type in C:\Program Files (x86)\Yahoo!\Messenger).
- Find the file yupdater and rename it to yupd.
